For many women training in the martial arts begins and ends with the fitness component. Many women learn the drills and techniques but have a really hard time with the application of the moves. Especially when the focus is only on looking good. Emotions run deep in real martial training, its not easy going against what many woman are taught so early in life mislead to believe they are weak and should deffer to men.

When Krista began training, I was a fellow student. She was a white belt and I a senior rank. I was amazed at how focused and determined she was. Throughout her training her ability to focus on clean technique was always her strong suit.

Well when it was Krista turn to make application a reality, there was a struggle initially she had to learn to trust the system and I had to learn to relate to training a head strong, powerhouse who was indeed female.

As the years grew this strong, silent leader became the first female black belt at Trained. She's good with stand up, the clinch and submission grappling and her forms are impressive. She works with guys just as well as the ladies who remain at our school. And we never take it easy, because no one on the street will. One of the best kept secrets in Martial Arts (until now anyway). Sempai Krista Cinotti.
